– The police in Portugal have been arrested on 56 members of motorcycle gang Hells Angels on Wednesday.

Reporting from AFP, Thursday (7/12/2018), local police said, This arrest is related to alleged crimes committed by the group.

Members of the motorcycle gang are suspected of being seen in attempted murder cases and pimps in the country.

The arrests were part of a massive operation to unravel violent criminal organizations.

Those arrested are between 30-50 years old. Spokesman of the national anti-terrorism unit of Portugal, Manuela Santos, said those arrested were also suspected of involvement in violence, extortion, drugs and arms trade.

Police investigations have risen since March following violent attacks by nearly 100 members of Hells Angels against rival groups on the outskirts of Lisbon.

More than 400 police officers were deployed in the arrest operation to avoid a new confrontation at the annual Faro motorcycle general meeting in southern Portugal between July 19 and 22.

Hells Angels is known for Harley Davidson motorcycles and their leather outfits. Hells Angels was founded in the United States in 1948 and has branches in about 50 countries.
