– A wife of the “ISIS war minister” is reported to have been arrested by the Turkish authorities in eradication operations in Istanbul.

The woman is known to be the wife of the late senior commander of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Abu Omar al-Shishani, dubbed the ‘Minister of War’.

Quoted from Reuters on Saturday (21/7/2018), Shishani who came from Georgia, Europe was killed in the battle in the district of Shirqat, Iraq in July 2016.

During his lifetime, Shishani was known as a close adviser to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

According to a Turkish authorities report, Shishani’s wife was arrested on July 4 in an operation suspected of hiding.

Turkish police have not released the name of Shishani’s wife, but only call her initials ‘SD’. The origin of citizenship of Shishani’s wife is not mentioned further.

According to police, it was only realized that one of the captured women was Shishani’s wife a few days after she was interrogated. Passport brought by Shishani wife declared false.
