– Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has reportedly called for CIA help to win elections in Malaysia.

Reporting from The Star, Friday (20/07/2018), It was revealed from a letter that allegedly filed by the Office of Foreign Secrets of Malaysia (MEIO) to the CIA.

The letter was addressed to CIA Director Gina Haspel and asked for US intelligence support to win Najib five days ahead of the 2018 election.

Hasanah Ab Hamid, Director General of the Malaysian External Intelligence Organization, said in the letter cautioned the US government against Mahathir Mohamad, whom he described as “anti-western, antisemit, silencing violent opposition and ignoring human rights and law.”

“It was during his rule that the Internal Security Act (ISA) was abused for his personal political agenda and allowed him to rule Malaysia for more than two decades.”

Until now it is not clear about the authenticity of the letter. The department set up in the era of Najib’s rule and stationed at the prime minister’s office included police targets after Mahathir Mohamad’s victory.

In May, police searched the residence of one of the MEIO officials after allegedly receiving secret documents from Najib two days before the election.
