– Two Hungarian tourists are reportedly jailed and paid a fine for being caught trying to steal a brick in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

Reported from Sputnik, Tuesday (17/07/2018), the police said, Both caught red pocketing the brick after other visitors see them.

The bricks are known to be taken from the wreckage of the Auschwitz crematorium that is put in the bag and will be brought home.

Mateusz Drwal, a local policeman says both are prosecuted for the theft of cultural assets and have pleaded guilty.

“The man and the woman were sued for theft of cultural assets, both of whom pleaded guilty,” he said.

The 30-year-old woman and the 36-year-old man were each fined € 346 and sentenced to a one-year jail trial.

“They said they wanted to take the bricks home as a memento and were unaware of the consequences of their actions,” Drwal said.
