Here It Comes: Royal Bank Of Scotland Warns Clients Of Upcoming Global Stock And Credit Market Crashes - Morgan Stanley Warns Of “Catastrophic Event” Resulting From Pissing Contest Between Federal Reserve And European Central Bank

June 18th, 2008

SCOTLAND - The Royal Bank of Scotland has advised clients to brace for a full-fledged crash in global stock and credit markets over the next three months as inflation paralyses the major central banks.

“A very nasty period is soon to be upon us - be prepared,” said Bob Janjuah, the bank’s credit strategist.

A report by the bank’s research team warns that the S&P 500 index of Wall Street equities is likely to fall by more than 300 points to around 1050 by September as “all the chickens come home to roost” from the excesses of the global boom, with contagion spreading across Europe and emerging markets.

Such a slide on world bourses would amount to one of the worst bear markets over the last century.

RBS said the iTraxx index of high-grade corporate bonds could soar to 130/150 while the “Crossover” index of lower grade corporate bonds could reach 650/700 in a renewed bout of panic on the debt markets.

“I do not think I can be much blunter. If you have to be in credit, focus on quality, short durations, non-cyclical defensive names.

“Cash is the key safe haven. This is about not losing your money, and not losing your job,” said Mr Janjuah, who became a City star after his grim warnings last year about the credit crisis proved all too accurate.

Scottish Police Officer, Sex Pest Andrew Burt, Keeps Full Pension After Conviction For Indecently Assaulting Three Women

April 15th, 2008

SCOTLAND - A sex pest policeman has been allowed to pocket a full pension despite being convicted of indecently assaulting three women.

Creepy Constable Andrew Burt was found guilty in September last year of groping two women and slapping another on the bottom at a bowling club. His victims included a mother and daughter.

He would have lost his pension if he had been sacked. But his bosses took so long to investigate his conduct that he was able to retire and collect a fat payout.

Burt quit last month after 30 years in the force. The average officer with that length of service can expect a pension of £16,000 a year or a smaller pension and an £80,000 lump sum.

Taxpayers help foot the bill for the generous scheme.

Burt’s bonanza left his victims raging. One of them, 60-year-old granny Alison McFarlane, said: “I am angry but not really all that shocked. The police always look after their own.”

Craig Gordon pleaded guilty after four-and-a-half weeks of evidence at his fraud trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

He committed the offences while working as a customs officer at the Lothian 2 Area Office in Saughton House, Broomhouse Drive, Edinburgh between February 19, 2003, and December 16, 2004.

The Crown is now seeking to recover some of the money the tax worker fraudulently obtained under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Gordon, of Calder Place, Sighthill, was accused of defrauding HMRC of more than £190,000 but today pleaded guilty to the lesser amount.
The father-of-two had been accused of using the names of his friends and family as part of the scam.

Crazed Scotland Police To Test All Drivers With Breathalyser

December 6th, 2007

SCOTLAND - All drivers in Scotland are to be breathalysed if they are stopped by police for any motoring offence, The Scotsman has learned.

The change, which is expected to be announced tomorrow, will mean motorists will now be breath-tested if they are caught committing offences such as speeding, running red lights or holding mobile phones.

Many forces had previously routinely breath-tested drivers only if they had been involved in a crash or officers suspected they had been drinking.

The new policy comes into force with the start of this year’s Scottish Christmas drink-drive campaign tomorrow.

It is the latest attempt by police to curb the increasing number of drivers being caught over the limit.

Last year’s festive campaign saw a 12 per cent rise, with over 100 more motorists caught than in 2005. A summer blitz in July recorded a 3 per cent rise on last year.

In Addition To 25 Million Parents, Personal Information On Hundreds Of Scottish Snitches Current And Past Lives Appear On Disks Lost By Their Federal Government :)

December 5th, 2007

SCOTLAND - Details of hundreds of people given new identities under witness protection programmes are included in the child benefit discs lost in the post by HM Revenue and Customs, it was claimed today.

Up to 350 people who have been given new names and re-homed after giving evidence against criminals are said to be among 25 million parents on the register.

It is claimed both the old and new identities are included on the discs, potentially putting their lives at risk and raising the prospect of a costly exercise to hide them again.

The Tories said it would be “alarming” if the details of witness protection scheme members were among those lost.

Shadow chancellor George Osborne said: “The Government owes an absolute duty to protect witnesses in major criminal trials who are part of the witness protection scheme.”

November 11th, 2007

UK - Four out of ten crimes are written off as unsolvable just a few hours after they are reported.

The two million offences are simply “screened out” - and their victims have little or no chance of seeing the culprit brought to justice.

No officer visits the scene of the crime, and no attempt is made to find a suspect.

* Detectives taken off padeophile case to chase Government targets for low level crime

As many as two-thirds of burglaries are not investigated in some areas, according to the police figures.

Even robberies and violent crimes can be screened out - along with fraud, theft and vandalism.

Among the 12 English and Scottish forces which released figures under Freedom of Information laws, 788,000 crimes were screened out last year.

From a total of 2,029,000 recorded offences, this means 39 per cent are written off in this way.

Former Grampian Scotland Police Officer Warren Wattie Receives A Slap On The Wrist For Beating On His Wife

November 9th, 2007

SCOTLAND - A former Grampian Police officer who assaulted his wife has had his jail sentence overturned on appeal.

Det Con Warren Wattie, 37, was found guilty of assaulting his wife Jacqueline in Aberdeen.

Wattie was jailed for six months earlier this year after a sheriff said violence in marriage would never be condoned by the courts.

Judges at the Justiciary Appeal in Edinburgh ordered Wattie to carry out 240 hours of community service instead.

Lost control

It was claimed Wattie throttled his 35-year-old physiotherapist wife and pushed her to the floor during an argument.

He also said that in another incident he may have caught his wife on the head as she went down the stairs, but had not assaulted her.

Wattie also denied that he had lost control during both alleged incidents, which had resulted in him assaulting his wife, but was found guilty at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Study Specifically Targeting Men Explores Adding Johns, Brothel And Sauna Visitors To Sex Offender Registry

October 21st, 2007

SCOTLAND - A Scottish study of men who buy sex from prostitutes has found most would be deterred if their names were put on the sex offenders register as punishment.

Preliminary findings from interviews with more than 100 men aged 18-77, who had kerb-crawled, used saunas and illegal brothels for sexual services, found 88% would stop using prostitutes if “named and shamed” on the register, used to identify anyone cautioned, convicted or released from prison for sex offences.

The Glasgow-based Scottish Women’s Group, which campaigns to protect women and children, paid the “punters” £20 each to be interviewed after they responded to adverts in newspapers.

They were questioned about circumstances in which they bought sex, their personal relationships, views about women in the sex trade and what they thought were the most effective punishments. It formed part of an international study, including research into male users in India, Spain and the US.

Scotland Police Launch Nationwide Manhunt For Senior Citizen Locked In Public Bathroom

September 21st, 2007

UK - Cops launched a nationwide hunt for a missing great-grandmother — before she was found 12 hours later locked in a public toilet.

Gwyneth Coles, 77, was changing coaches as she headed home from a holiday when she went to spend a penny. The caretaker was ready to lock up for the night and shouted: “Anyone in?”

Mrs Coles replied: “Yes, I’m in here. I won’t be a minute” — but he did not hear her and locked the door. She shouted for help but had to spend the night in the toilets in Pickering, North Yorks.

Luckily she had her suitcase with her so she wrapped herself up in four jumpers and two coats.

The caretaker found her when he opened up at 7am. By that time friends had alerted police across the UK after she failed to return home from her trip to Inverness, Scotland.
