CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK - We’ve exposed blogger June Maxam of the North Country Gazette as a conspiracy theorist and liar, so it wasn’t unexpected when informed yesterday that Bad Cop News is again targeted amid Maxam’s tangled web of mental collapse. Adding to the current mix, Maxam has included a handful of her sworn enemies, Warren County law enforcement, www.lifenews.com journalist, and iPowerWeb, Inc. hosting, in the latest example of her progressing departure from reality.
Maxam’s latest conspiracy theory goes far beyond her previous attempts at defamation, libel, slander, ignorance, and textual diarrhea - and reads like a trashy paperback spy novel. Maxam describes the “malicious involvement of Steven Ertelt, Bad Cop News and several others including a member of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department” in something she probably hasn’t dreamed up yet. Whatever this latest fantasy is, she’s keeping it a secret and only revealing it to her innermost circle of so-called paid subscribers…

CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK - We just received an anonymous email from India containing a list of nearly 450 IP addresses blocked by blogger June Maxam. Any individual assigned these IP addresses are banned from visiting her little North Country Gazette blog. We were able to independently verify a random sampling of the IP addresses, and they are in fact blocked by Maxam. Also, many of the addresses have visited Bad Cop News in the past couple of years.
We had to discuss publishing this list, and even asked an attorney. But, since none of the IP addresses actually identify an innocent third party, nobody cares who is actually visiting (or can’t visit, in this case) Maxam’s site, the list has no intrinsic or monetary value, there are no copyrights involved, there is no “proprietary information” contanined in an IP address, none of the IP addresses “belong” to June Maxam, it originated overseas, and the Bad Cop News server is offshore, we decided they are fair game. If your IP address is listed and you want it removed, drop us an email (see contact page).
This verifies the previous Bad Cop News assumption that Maxam READS her server blogs, looking for people to ban from her blog, and blocks those she doesn’t like with whom she’s swapped email, etc.
While every other blogger in the universe is trying to increase the number of visitors to their blog, June Maxam is trying to decrease the number coming to hers. Fortunately there aren’t many visitors to begin with, so she probably only has to spend half of her waking hours going through her log files and banning visitors.
Remember this, the next time she’s screaming freedom of the press, freedom of information, first amendment, etc… Those only apply to her, not the rest of the country.

Someone “friendly” with June Maxam, and a prior source of info emailed saying Maxam isn’t smart enough to move her site to a new hosting company, is looking for someone to do it for her, which is the source of her bitching about moving.
The sender drew our attention to “Due to IPowerWeb and HostPC, The North Country Gazette is ceasing operations on March 31 unless a transfer to a reliable hosting company can be effected.”, saying that “…someone at HostPC thought to stick her name in a search engine and decided they wanted no part of her or her site. I know cause [really good reason removed]. It has absolutely nothing to do with [removed] contacting them, linking the our local cops to the failed move only exists in june’s mind. remember two years ago I told you she’s nuts… she is even worse now without her mommy.” [BCN: 2 spelling corrections. CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK - Awhile back my wife contacted the North Country Gazette about an error made when they grabbed a news article from our local paper and rewrote it. She received a threatening message and supposedly had been reported to the police for harassment. They also blocked our computer at home. Ever since my wife gets an error message when visiting any page on the blog - even from Google. I tried from work and was able to view the site, but then an hour latter I was unable to do so from any of the computers at work. I tried again just now, and they are still blocked. I found your website in Google, the theme of which I don’t quite agree with, but you appear to be a common point for all things about this mad woman.

BCN: June Maxam READS her server’s logs, banning visitors based on some crazed method that we are sure that only she can understand. Normal people WANT people to visit their blog, but Maxam views each visitor as a threat and makes sure that many of them can’t ever come back. With a lessening number of daily visitors to her site, it’s getting easier for her to go through her shrinking log files and ban people. Eventually she’ll have excluded everyone who wants to view the site, and she will be blogging only to herself.
Don’t worry about getting sued or the FBI following up on a complaint. She has a crazy track record that spans years, and she’s not sued anyone she’s threatened via. email. Also, she’s not reporting people to the State Police and FBI when she claims she has. And any complaints she does file will certainly lead to an inquiry to her local law enforcement authorities, who know she is nuts.
There is really no reason to visit the North Country Gazette. Just about everything there is a modified version of random stuff that appears elsewhere, and since she doesn’t state the source from where she copied it or provide a link back to the source, it can be difficult to verify. The remaining items are mostly conspiracy theories. Maxam doesn’t have a problem with telling lies, so everything appearing on her blog needs to be verified with a reputable source.

CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK - I’d like to renominate June Maxam at North Country Gazette for asshole of this month again.
Went to the site when it turned up on a search for iPowerWeb hosting company - and proceeded to read, visit some links, etc. One thing I was looking for was how to register and the fees for becoming registered.
Must have read too much because now I’ve been banned. It seems if you have too much interest, that’s a sure sign that you’re out to do something. I don’t know what, but I’m sure it’s SOMETHING with big letters and lots of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after it.

News Update 4: Keyboard commando June Maxam is back, after promising (again) to go away, changing it (again) to a conditional thing, removing the notice (again), and has passed info to an associate that she’s not going anywhere. She’s done this before, last trying to sign up paying customers to support her $8 a month blog with high dollar “subscriptions.”
A ton of email have been arriving concerning Maxam, one with some really detailed personal stuff that the sender thinks should be made public on BCN (we actually have to ask a lawyer tomorrow about just how far we can go with posting information). A few more folks who’ve visited the North Country Gazette blog and have been banned, or cannot access the site at all. They eventually end up on Bad Cop News, thanks to the search engines, and drop us a line.
Again, what is the point of blogging when you are going to block visitors? We received an email from an Anonymous member in reference to the NCG blog - for those who understand the implications there Note: Actions by third party’s not connected to Bad Cop News are not our responsibility! We do not condone efforts that have been mentioned in the past 24 hours, except one that is lawful and we are putting into action when we have time.
News Update 3: June Maxam is reading her server logs, banning those who visit her North Country Gazette blog. We verified this, as recently as today, with prior emails and one as recent as this evening relating similar efforts to hide her blog from the world.
What is the point of having a blog, when those who visit are blocked from ever returning?
Apparently June Maxam has some very serious mental health issues.

North Country Gazette Publisher June Maxam Ordered Back To Jail
Despite Maxam’s recent claims to the contrary, there are virtually no visitors to her blog, and it has been plastered for some time with pay-per-click spam. As others have stated elsewhere, the NCG blog masquerades as a news site, interspersed with Maxam’s conspiracy theories. Related efforts on Wikipedia, including promoting a “book” of her opinions concerning the Terri Schiavo right to life case, were immediately tossed in their entirety amid peer review.
Maxam has been the source of some very bizarre, intimidating, and harassing emails to Bad Cop News and other sites and individuals, filled with threats of lawsuits and criminal investigations that never materialize. A third party obtained the contents of her mail files and Apache logs from her hosts servers, which are still floating around on bittorrent, which paint a very different picture than what June Maxam attempts to publicly portray. To us, it is painfully obvious that she has some very deep personal issues that need to be addressed before she can interact with others in a meaningful manner.
Our contact in Warren County law enforcement describes Maxam as “…a real talker..” and “…a lonely old lady with something screwy upstairs…“, while her neighbors call her “The Queen of Foster Flats” and do their best to avoid her. A nearby resident says that the last time he saw Maxam’s home, situated on a tiny two block long street, it was surrounded with No Trespassing signs. Every effort we’ve made to verify complaints she claimed to have filed at the state and federal level against this site and other individuals have all been met with “we have no record of a complaint” or something similar. Searches for parties (complaintant/defendant) only yield information on Maxam’s time in jail.
“…the internet is littered with people she has threatened to sue.”, which appears elsewhere, pretty much hits the nail on the head.
A quote from Maxam’s own blog (obviously used without permission) doesn’t name the site, but says “An obscure blog which hides in anonymity, refusing to even publish bonafide contact information”. A quick whois reveals that June Maxam is the one who refuses to publish bonafide domain contact information - in violation of domain registration rules, so she must have had a senior moment and described her own domain:

Maxam’s rants on various website online comment sections appear elsewhere. She was busted on a Harvard University law site using 4 different aliases, all of which were traced back to her cable modem’s assigned IP address - verified by an email from her to the same site from the same IP. (Obviously Maxam isn’t the brightest bulb on the string.)
Maxam is almost famous for trying to singlehandedly rewrite U.S. Copyright Law with crazed disclaimers on her blog, saying Fair Use does not apply there. This got some real laughs in the legal blogs, especially when she went up against real lawyers, and she of course ended up crashing and burning there.
Maxam started a “Just say NO To iPowerWeb” campaign against her hosting company (Kind of like shooting yourself in the foot), where a Terry M. revealed that “Maxam’s reputation is also scattered in tiny pieces about the globe (Search for “June Maxam” nutcase et. al.)” - a classic. The campaign crashed and burned at that point.
Maxam attacked a respected pro-life news site that has been around since 1993 (Maxam’s little blog surfaced 10 years latter) for posting news items that “obviously directs readers and potential patrons of our advertisers away from The North Country Gazette and adversely affects our statistics for daily readership and ultimately affects potential income.” Of course, “potential income” as defined by Maxam can only be taken to mean her desire that suckers click on her blog’s pay-per-click spam… She also attacked the same news site for publishing an article with the permission of the copyright holder, that Maxam claimed had been stolen from her blog.
Maxam blocks IP addresses from accessing her blog if she has received an email from someone she doesn’t like. Additionally, she’s blocked numerous proxy sites around the globe that we use to browse anonymously, as well as IP addresses assigned to at least two individuals known to us that she doesn’t like. Maxam is obviously anti-First Amendment, as long as it still applies to her.
Some time back we received an email from an individual in France, who was unable to access Maxam’s site, and who emailed her to report a problem. Maxam replied that she had reported him to the “New York State Police Cyber Crimes unit, Ic3, FTC and the local office of the FBI.” Someone at a US Telco had routed Maxam’s site to Bad Cop News, and she totally flipped out. (4 months latter, BCN still gets NCG traffic routed through that company’s system - which includes, as of last November, 4 million users in the U.S. and Europe…) Minutes after the sending her reader a threatening email, Maxam send him a second email, intended for someone else, lying about the first email:
Received from June Maxam: “I got this message today—any ideas what can be done? I think this is an email sent out to try and evoke a response from me. I wrote back and told him it was the first such complaint had had, wasn’t experiencing any problems with northcountrygazette.org and suggested he filed a complaint with ic3.gov. I do know that some fucker registed the domain name of northcountrygazette.net and has that redirected to badcopnews. I don’t what I can do to stop that. I own northcountrygazette.com so they can’t get that one.”
It must really suck to be June Maxam, full of shit, lying to an associate while begging for help…
Search results on all of the major engines for “North Country Gazette” or “June Maxam” are guaranteed to return links to victims of Maxam’s online harassment and intimidation efforts, including links to Bad Cop News site (which often appear before links to her own blog). Maxam has totally trashed her so called (by her) good name. It is bad enough that another June Maxam, a kid from Arkansas, contacted BCN asking how she could clean up the Maxam name. She ended up signing on as a contributor, and latter someone suggested how funny it would be if we named her “editor/publisher” and prominently featured her name on the site. (yeah, it is confusing, having an editor with the same name as January’s Asshole of the Month, but it’s all about the site’s ranking in the search engines and having a good laugh at some idiot’s expense…)
It is pretty obvious that Maxam (and her host) doesn’t know much about the internet, servers, and BSD. Her hosts servers were recently hacked (to the root level) by a third party during a software upgrade. Things Maxam has blindly blamed on her host were not problems created by her host, and nobody recognized what had happened until long after the hackers had moved on.
A Bad Cop News supporter got wind of the hack, and got access to her current and archived mail files and Apache logs. While the general contents of some of her email has been discussed, but, as tempting as it is, we have a thing about not reading other people’s mail and haven’t obtained the mail files for our own use. We did though see the size of all the Apache log files, and assuming they are in standard NCSA format, Maxam’s site isn’t getting much traffic, maybe 3-5,000 visits a day - which on an internet scale is about as close to zero as you can get. (For comparison, Bad Cop News usually receives an average of 68K unique visitors per day.)
With solid proof that Maxam is completely full of shit, a rational person cannot possibly take her at her word that she is truly going to shut down the North Country Gazette blog - one can only hope. The common consensus here and elsewhere is that, lacking a real life, she’ll be blogging there or elsewhere again before too long.
Still, if only for a few days, the internet will be a much better place without June Maxam.

CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK - An email has alerted Bad Cop News to the fact that, instead of moving to a new hosting company, “Publisher” (she in fact does have a WordPress blog so we’ll go along with the self-given title) June Maxam of the North Country Gazette has undertaken an online campaign against her web hosting company iPowerWeb.
Many, many others have been the target of nutcase June Maxam, including LIFENEWS HERE.
Observant BCN visitors will have noticed that Maxam has been named the Bad Cop News “Asshole of the Month” for February.
A Warren County New York law enforcement officer previously said this of Maxam: “Look, that woman says a lot of things, yeah she’s a real talker, but it comes down to a lonely old lady with something screwy upstairs sitting in front of a computer, with few friends, making enemies.”
The received email directs us HERE, where the emailer points out that someone has “handed June Maxam her ass in a box.“, and HERE (see “Nutcase June Maxam’s efforts against her hosting“) where the text (which also appears below) also appears.
Since Maxam’s hand has been previously caught in the cookie jar (busted using multiple identities) amid her online efforts to disgrace herself, is is impossible to know how many of the the 30 members of the so-called “boycott” are legitimate.
It’s really bizarre that someone would attack their own web hosting company… Common sense says it is like shooting oneself in the foot, but maybe it is something June Maxam picked up during one of her stints in jail. To us, it sounds like the plain ole’ anti-social and self-destructive behavior she’s all but trademarked.
Anyway… It’s cool that our “MAXAM DOCTRINE” received mention, but not that Bad Cop News wasn’t named. Maybe we should pull a “Maxam“, cry “Copyright Infringement!!!”, and start sending hate filled terror emails and threaten everyone involved like she does…
Oh yeah, the comment reminded me that June Maxam has spent time behind bars, in case I forgot to mention that :)
Anyway, here’s what we were directed to in the email, in the event that she censors the campaign’s comment, and terrorizes the blog replicating the comment into removing it:

Who is North Country G? A Google search finds that June Maxam’s reputation is also scattered in tiny pieces about the globe. (Search for “June Maxam nutcase” et. al.).
- She reported one of her blog readers to the FBI for daring to email her for help when unable to access her little blog.
- She threatened to write editorials about one of her blog’s readers and that individual’s clients. (Who responded with “By all means, I’ll simply release your nutcase emails.”)
- She enjoys threatening and harassing individuals via. email.
- She harasses other websites with unfounded complaints if they are critical of her or her blog’s content.
- She’s currently honored with one site’s “a**hole of the month” affixed with the quote “Just because she has a blog doesn’t mean she has a brain.”
- She tried to completely re-write US copyright statute with a really silly footer on her blog.
- She harassed another website which adopted a parody “MAXAM DOCTRINE” based on Maxam’s really silly footer, which forbid reproduction of every “..of any word, phrase, letter, character, color, texture…” appearing on that site. (LOL)
Unfortunately I must withdraw my support of this campaign until a reputable individual heads the effort, preferably someone who has never seen the inside of a jail cell.

CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK - The little blog operated by conspiracy theorist June Maxam, source of the craziest emails Bad Cop News has ever received, is hopefully drawing it’s last breath.
Maxam’s site is highly regarded by many: “stupidity already just drips right off [June Maxam’s] whole page“, “thinly shrouding June Maxam’s aluminum-foil-hat conspiracy theory articles“, “Someone do her (and everyone else) a favor and get a doctor to commit her someplace quiet with no connectivity…“, “This one [June Maxam] appears to have trouble dealing with reality“, “Yeah, [June Maxam’s] just completely bonkers. Nothing to see here, move along“, and on and on.
Maxam is well known by many: “it is pretty clear the editor is just a complete psycho nutcase“, and makes friends where ever she goes: “I’ve received some nutcase emails from June Maxam, who likewise threatened to write editorials about me and my clients“.
Maxam singlehandedly tried to rewrite U.S. Copyright Law with some moronic Fair Use notices (See [Blog] Pretends It Can Block Fair Use And Threaten Those Who Say It Can’t), exposing herself to ridicule across the web.
Maxam always seemed to have had way too much free time on her hands, and now maybe with some more, she will start suing everyone she’s threatened in emails with lawsuits. “Due to the continuing and increasing unreliability of the NCG web host IPowerWeb coupled with the lack of financial support from readers and other factors related to the operation of the daily news site, it is with regret that The North Country Gazette will discontinue operations in February unless revenues increase prior to Jan. 31 through affiliate advertising sales, subscriptions to the Daily News Digest, contractual agreements in regard to investigative reports and other NCG services or contributions from readers to help maintain the site. Update: An tech at a U.S. ISP elected to route their www.northcountrygazette.org traffic to www.badcopnews.com. It turns out that they provide routing services to a handful of european ISP’s, which is why the guy in France is seeing Bad Cop News at work instead of the North Country Gazette conspiracy site. ROTFL!

When I go to www.northcountrygazette.org I see your site instead. Only using cache was I able to view the pages and locate a contact email address.
I contacted them for help with what I am experiencing.
It might help you to know that I am temporarily residing in France, while my wife is home in Maryland and can reach the site. I can reach it from home (here) with slow dialup isdn, but not from work.
Below is the reply I received to my inquiry to the North Country Gazette, telling me that they have been reported me to state and federal enforcement agencies for asking for their assistance in accessing the site.
I am sorry for calling your site a hate site, I realize that it is not. I totally understand, if the email I received is from the woman to whom you name on your site, why you and others call her a ‘nutcase’. My only interest in the site is because my wife reads it and comes away with many misconceptions due to untruths published there.
I am sorry if I am taking up your valuable time with something trivial, but thought you should know that you (and I) are now under investigation by New York state and the Federal Government. Ha ha.

Here is the reply:
As of this morning, complaints involving you and your message have been filed with the New York State Police Cyber Crimes unit, Ic3, FTC and the local office of the FBI. I am advised that the federal government is already investigating badcopnews and their operators and are monitoring them.
Dare to report problem with June Maxam’s site? You are now under state and federal investigation.
UPDATE: June Maxam is totally full of it. She has NOT filed a complaint with the FBI concerning the above email exchange. A local law enforcement officer said today during a conference call “Look, that woman says a lot of things, yeah she’s a real talker, but it comes down to a lonely old lady with something screwy upstairs sitting in front of a computer, with few friends, making enemies. So don’t worry about it.”
June Maxam then pleas to a third party for help, lies about her reply to man asking for assistance (emphasis added):
I got this message today—any ideas what can be done? I think this is an email sent out to try and evoke a response from me. I wrote back and told him it was the first such complaint had had, wasn’t experiencing any problems with northcountrygazette.org and suggested he filed a complaint with ic3.gov. I do know that some fucker registed the domain name of northcountrygazette.net and has that redirected to badcopnews. I don’t what I can do to stop that. I own northcountrygazette.com so they can’t get that one.
Ever read something, then read something else right after by the same person, and realize that the author is full of shit?

FROM AN EMAIL: Hey! I found your site by going to www.northcountrygazette.net. I work for [REMOVED ISP NAME] as you can see by the return address. Once of our customers couldn’t access www.northcountrygazette.org and I was troubleshooting.
UPDATE: ISP’s customers are now being directed to Bad Cop News instead of Yahoo. ISP provides routing services to some European ISP’s, their their customers are also directed to BCN.
Apparently they are intentionally blocking that individual’s IP address range. I see on your page you, like our customer, call the people at the site nutcases ROTFL. Well this ought to make you smile. As of just now, any of our customers (about 4,200,000) who access www.northcountygazette.org will be redirected to www.yahoo.com instead.
