GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - Several male police officers are on paid leave, and a female police dispatcher is off the job as an investigation into allegations of sex between on-duty officers continues.
24 Hour News 8 first brought the incident to light on Friday night when GRPD Chief Harry Dolan issued a statement confirming an internal investigation of on-duty misconduct not involving the public.
24 Hour News 8 confirmed the dispatcher in question is married to a GRPD officer, though they are in the process of divorcing and living apart.
Court documents obtained by 24 Hour News 8 reveal the dispatcher alleges her husband had been harassing her at work. She also alleges her husband is currently living with one of her co-workers, who is also a dispatcher.
The documents also reveal the husband told other officers and SWAT members his wife had sexual photos of officers on her work computer, an allegation she completely denied.
Dolan’s last day on the job is Friday before he leaves for Raleigh’s police department. He hopes to wrap the investigation before he leaves.
“If sustained the allegations involved could result in serious disciplinary action up to and including dismissal,” Dolan said. He added the incident “is troubling and it’s a disturbing issue and we’re working to resolve it.”
Despite repeated attempts, city leaders would not comment on the case to 24 Hour News 8.
